Resources are now available at

Conversations Matter launch

Conversations Matter, the world's first online community resource to guide safe and supportive conversations about suicide, was officially launched on Thursday 14 November 2013 by the NSW Minister for Mental Health, the Hon. Kevin Humphries MP.

The news resources, which can be accessed at, have been developed by the Hunter Institute of Mental Health and funded under the NSW Suicide Prevention Strategy 2010-2015, with the support of NSW Mental Health Commission.

New resources for professionals - coming soon

To complement the existing resources for communities, Conversations Matter will soon include a stream of professional resources specifically designed for individuals and organisations working in suicide prevention, mental health or other community services.

Additional fact sheets now available

In February, the Conversations Matter team have made further fact sheets available to individuals and communities looking for information on discussing suicide. These downloadable 'supporting fact sheets' provide more comprehensive information on:

  • Risk factors and warning signs for suicidal thoughts and behaviours
  • Myths and facts about suicide
  • Suicide and the media
  • How to interact with media about suicide or suicide prevention
