Conversations Matter in our community

Friday, April 11, 2014

On Saturday 29th March this year, the Willaura community in rural Victoria took to the streets for their annual fun run. Almost 200 people participated in the 16 km fun run (not bad for a town with a population of 450) with the community event used as a way to raise awareness about mental health and available resources.

The Hunter Institute of Mental Health are pleased to hear that this year, the organisers promoted our Conversations Matter resources developed to support community discussion about suicide.

We received great feedback from the fun run participants about Conversations Matter and they were kind enough to share a few photos and stories from the event.

The Hunter Institute, who developed and manage the Conversations Matter resources, would like to say a huge thanks to community members from Willaura for spreading the word about our online resources for individuals and communities.

If you would like to promote Conversations Matter in your local community, feel free to get in touch with the team at the Hunter Institute of Mental Health here
